Summertime!!!

I was so looking forward to summer vacation and no substitute teaching! Seems that after the kids do their State testing they think school or learning is over and they can do as they please! I actually, for the first time, and hopefully the last, had a high school student tell me to "shut up" when I was trying to help him and then proceed to tell me I was stupid! didn't go over very well! He left with the other young man I had told the office to come pick up!

After that I decided I didn't need or want to work much until next school year. I did work about 6 days the last month and most were half days - much easier! But now it is July 18 and i feel bored! I wish it would be simple as I should be working when I choose in September, but it is more complicated of course1 i am finally seeing a Dr. who will determine the extent of workers' comp injury from breaking my wrist. The appointm3ent is July 27. Since my shoulder has been hurting and getting worse since April 2009 I just want a decision made so I can get it repaired! After this appointment either workers' comp will be responsible or I can go see my own ortho surgeon - I just want it fixed!

By the time it gets fixed I am afraid I won't be able to work for a while - I am sure of that!! Summer is great though1 We had our annual bar b que and making of Samores and then watching the fireworks from our backyard with the family. Kaitlyn graduated from Hemet High so we went to that and then to her party the next night. We added a new member to our family - Sugar - acute little puppy! She is Maltese/Yorkie and cute as can be! We will be really happy when she is completely house broken and uses her doggie door every time she needs to go! She is fun to watch play and she does love us and we love her too!

Not going on a vacation this summer since Wayne went to Canada in April and I went to Houston. The plan is to fly to Maryland and visit Danny and family in the Fall. We'll just have to wait and see what happens with my shoulder to finalize our plans!

Nikki and her 5 were just here for a few days and we had a good time with them and other family members just being a family and playing together! I especially enjoyed the mornings with my 3 year old granddaughter watching cartoons, reading to her and just talking. She is a sweetheart! The kids loved the puppy and she was running or being carried around all the time.

Oh! My son Mike and his wife Angela and their children were sealed for time and eternity i the San Diego Temple in June! That was a great experience. Wayne's cousin is the Matron and her husband, Bruce, is the President and he did the sealing. I am so proud of them for working hard to go and have this ordinance done. It was a lovely experience with only family and the Minors there. A little bit of Heaven on Earth. That is what this life is all about - preparing for eternity and being a forever family. Joy to the world1

It's Been A Long time

Since keeping busy on Facebook I have failed to keep up on my blog. So, I shall do a little catching up this time. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at our home with the kids who were here. good food and good company. It is always fu to get together with the kids!

Christmas came along soon. This year we went to Mike and Angela's home. All Jim's kids were home from college so we were happy to have all of them here. Andrew is in school in Chicago studying to be an optometrist. We had great food, as usual, and then the wild time of gift opening and little kids running around with toys after. ow the teens, they are another story; They were doing funny poses for the camera and seemed to enjoy the time together. Our daughter-in-law, Angela, made a family tree for us that is so neat. It is a big tree and starts with Wayne and I at the bottom and all the important dates - goes through all our kids and grandkids. A special gift!

Last Saturday Lisa's youngest,Lauren, was baptized. My gift to the girls on their baptism year is a Marie Osmond collector doll - hopefully that will help them remember how special Grandma and Grandpa feel that day is. the boys get $100,00 for their mission fund. We had a great dinner at Lisa's after. a great family get together.

Wayne is keeping busy doing yard work - ours and he does three others that he gets paid for. He really enjoys working outside. You can get him off the rance but can't get the ranch out of him! Lisa has a new dog that is little and so cute. For the first time in all these years I heard Wayne say he would like a dog like that. I told him I would take care of it for Father's day. The next day I asked if he had the dog out of his system yet - he answered with a yes. So, no cute little dog. We can babysit Lisa's!

We are flying to Houston on April 1 to spend a week with Nikki and family. Angela and Ben are driving from St. Louis to be there too so it should be fun. Our only concern is that Wayne has a sister with cancer and it is growing quickly. He plans on flying to SLC and then driving to Canada with his sister Ruth to visit Fae. We are hoping both trips work out and we don;t have to change anything last minute. We pray for Fae and don't want her to suffer a long time.

Seems to us that the beginning of the very last days have raised it's ugly head throughout the world. Things are pretty messed up everywhere including in our country. We watch the signs and strive to live more Christ-like lives. We pray for our children and grandchildren that they will hold to the rod and be strong and true to the gospel as it is the only way to true happiness. Our fathers are aging but doing well all things considered.
